CINNAMON-beauty/health-booster

Cinnamon - one of the best beauty-boosting spices on the planet, that until the 1800s, was considered as more valuable than gold! Now, anti-aging scientists has discovered that this spice, extracted from the inner bark of several species of trees in the Cinnamomum genus, is a true beauty and health marvel that actually, like potato peel extract, BOOSTS COLLAGEN type 1 production; in the case of Cinnamon, it happens because it contains a compound called cinnamaldehyde which has been shown to increase those collagen levels.

Cinnamon is also potent source of antioxidants, and as you probably know, antioxidants slow down the aging process by protecting your cells from free radical damage. Skin INFLAMMATION is another prime age accelerator because it breaks down collagen. The antioxidants in cinnamon have anti-inflammatory effects that limit these skin flare-ups that cause premature aging.

Provides ANTI-DIABETIC activity- Cinnamon is great in preventing glycation spikes that make us age faster. Excess blood sugar is more likely to react with proteins such as collagen in the skin which can lead to brown splotches or "age spots" as well as loss of elasticity and premature wrinkling. These sugar-damaged, very dangerous cross-linked proteins are called advanced glycation end products, or AGE! That´s why its always a good "thing" to add generously Cinnamon to yours sweets, even if its fruit (fructose makes glycation spikes as well) or sugar-free sweets.

Amy Stockert´s, associate professor of biochemistry at Ohio Northern University Raabe College of Pharmacy, research found that people who consumed 1 gram a day of cinnamon saw blood sugar reductions comparable to what would be expected from prescription drugs. But she believes that even smaller quantities—like those used in cooking and seasoning—can also give pleasing benefits.

Cinnamon contains compounds, known as phenols, which bind to Sirt-1 molecules. SIRT1 plays a critical role in modulating a wide range of physiological processes, including apoptosis, DNA repair, inflammatory response, metabolism, cancer, and stress.

This yummy spice revs up the metabolism, reducing hunger and sugar cravings. A new study even suggests that cinnamaldehyde, (the same chemical compound that boosts collagen production), may also help burn fat cells!

Beneficial to ageing BRAIN, Cinnamon contains compounds that appear to slow conditions like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson's disease.

GUT-friendly: if consumed regularly, help restore the balance of bacteria in the gut. Cinnamon can also help to reduce inflammation in the gut, which is important for maintaining gut health. By reducing inflammation in the gut, cinnamon can help to improve digestion, reduce bloating and gas, and prevent leaky gut syndrome.

Research suggests that the powerful antifungal properties in cinnamon could be effective in treating and preventing CANDIDA overgrowth in the digestive tract. It has been shown to lower amounts of dangerous candida albicans, which is the yeast that causes candida overgrowth and can cause a host of digestive and autoimmune issues.

Cinnamon has also been known to have an inhibitory effect on enzymes involved in carbohydrate catabolism.

Great spice to be added to drink after meals, cinnamon kills bad BREATH germs before they have a chance to kill a good conversation!

Cinnamon can significantly reduce the severity, intensity and duration of period cramps.

If you practice INTERMITTENT FASTING or other type of fasting, cinnamon is safe; when you stick to less than 1 tsp. of cinnamon during your fast, cinnamon will not break your fast. And so loved fasting coffee you can have with added Cinnamon for sure :)

The type of cinnamon called Ceylon provides more health-promoting antioxidants than the type called cassia. However, cassia is the most common type found in foods and on grocery store shelves.

**Additionally, many people often wonder: IS CINNAMON BAD FOR DOGS? While cinnamon is non-toxic to your furry friends, it’s best to stick to Ceylon cinnamon to minimize coumarin consumption and keep intake in moderation to prevent negative side effects. While cinnamon is not toxic to dogs, though cinnamon essential oil can be toxic for pups!

CINNAMON IN SKINCARE

Cinnamon can be part of a healthy diet, there’s little research to support its topical use for anti-aging, skin lightening, acne, discoloration, or other skin issues. Even though it’s popular in homemade skin care products, it´s rarely found in commercial skin care products because it’s a common irritant. If you have very sensitive skin, Cinnamon use isn’t recommended.

The potential cinnamon benefits for skin are rooted in its antibiotic and antimicrobial properties, which can help protect skin from irritation, rashes, allergic reactions and infection. One study indicates that applying cinnamon essential oil directly to the skin can be helpful in reducing inflammation, swelling, pain and redness.

One of the benefits of cinnamon and honey, another antimicrobial ingredient, is that using both together can boost skin health even more and may be beneficial for acne, rosacea and skin allergies. You can use add either raw honey or Manuka honey for additional skin relief.

the takeaway

For me it´s the most delicious spice... And I´m having it really a lot in my diet, daily (1-3 teaspoons). Especially I love to add Cinnamon to my coffee. There´s no day I´m not having at least one, so called energy-booster-coffee (black coffee+ MCT oil or Extra Virgin Coconut Oil + cinnamon). It´s healthy, anti-aging, controls my blood sugar levels and its delicious way to have more energy in my body and brain.

Sometimes I drink CINNAMON WATER when I need to low inflammation. It is not only hydrating, tasty and anti-inflammatory, but also supply an array of health benefits, such as: delivering antioxidant and anticancer properties, supporting heart health, lowering cholesterol, and potentially aiding in weight loss! Can be helpful with diarrhea issues.

How to make it? - The only ingredients you need are a fresh stick of cinnamon and some H2O. Boil a bit of water and then cool to a simmer. Drop in the cinnamon stick and let simmer until the water turns a deep brown, up to 10 minutes. Take the liquid off of the stove, remove the cinnamon stick and let cool.

If you´re willing to benefit even more, or you´re not a fan of Cinnamon flavor, you always can intake Cinnamon as supplement (up to 1g per day with the meals).
